Foothills Sports Medicine is a dedicated practitioner of hands-on physical therapy in Arizona. Rooted in integrity and accountability, Foothills employs only the best and most passionate physical therapists in Arizona. Each month, we highlight one of these individuals; this month we spoke to Jason Sweet of the Northwest Tucson location!
A proud Arizona native, Jason grew up in Cottonwood before taking a full tour of the state to Prescott for his first years of college, then to The University of Arizona, and finally to A.T. Still University (then, Arizona School of Health Sciences) for grad school and to complete his training as a physical therapist.
Jason grew up playing sports and even played rugby in college. He knew that after college he wanted to do something that kept him connected to athletics. Originally an athletic trainer, Jason sought stability and consistency from a position where he could still help people return to the activities they love.
Initially attracted to Foothills’ presence in Phoenix, Jason wanted to help grow and expand their business in Tucson. The perfect opportunity presented itself when, after 10 years working in physical therapy, Jason answered an ad from the Arizona Physical Therapy Association looking for someone to step into the role of owner and operator at Jason’s current location. That’s just what Jason Sweet did!
Jason’s days as owner and operator include running the clinic’s daily operations, business development, and meeting with patients of his own. He wanted his clinic to be a resource for the surrounding community, acting as a referral source for some patients and first responder in the treatment of specific conditions for others. When Jason isn’t at the clinic, he says his kids and career as an amateur soccer coach for local youth organizations keeps him busy!
As a former athlete, Jason knows how debilitating an injury is to athletic ability. His favorite part of the job is watching his patients progress, helping them get better and return to their favorite sports or activities.
Jason looks forward to the continued success of the Northwest Tucson clinic. He strives to continue learning and improving his craft daily while working towards a personal goal of becoming a clinical orthopedic specialist.
To any aspiring physical therapists out there, Jason says to keep your grades up and take every opportunity possible to learn about the different facets of physical therapy because, trust him, there are a lot.
