Foothills Sports Medicine Physical Therapy focuses on putting the patient first with hands-on, individualized physical therapy and cutting edge techniques. Each of our physical therapists make our leadership and success in the industry possible by being dedicated, passionate, and talented.
Each month, we highlight an individual therapist’s contribution to the Foothills community; this month we spoke with Kevin Girard.
Kevin Girard is a physical therapist at both the Downtown Phoenix location and the Prescott Valley location, which is an hour and a half commute away from his home in Scottsdale, Arizona. Though he seems to be growing very familiar with the Arizona landscape, Kevin is originally from Cumberland, Wisconsin and attended University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. Shortly after, he got his doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. Traveling remains one of Kevin’s favorite activities. On much deserved weekends away, he likes to visit Mexico and California with friends.
Kevin has always been athletic, and actually began his journey to a career in physical therapy after a high school basketball injury. He says it made him curious about pursuing PT and to this day, that experience helps him sympathize with each of his patients as they look to overcome their injury or condition. Kevin, during a summer in school, worked in the tech industry and, after leaving, looked to a field that combined his skill and history in sports with his desire to help others.
Kevin has been at Foothills Sports Medicine Physical Therapy for over a year and a half, maintaining patient relationships at both of his locations. He started at Foothills in a floating position that required him to travel between the Downtown location and Prescott before becoming a permanent addition to the Downtown Foothills Sports Medicine family. However, he’s returned to making the long commute Prescott Valley to help fill in while they look to add another therapist to their team.
He notes that the transition between each facility is challenging due to the immediate change in staff, patients, and process, but he welcomes the weekly challenge with excitement. Kevin loves working at both locations and values the constant growth and education he receives from both.
Kevin loves that Foothills is always on top of innovation in the industry, seeking to grow its knowledge base and use new techniques. He says he’s the same way, and that his current career goal is to learn as much as possible and keep learning about the field that fascinates him.
