I was referred to Matt Midkiff at Foothills Sports Medicine Physical Therapy by my surgeon, Dr. Austin Smith of OrthoArizona. I had a total hip replacement and was wanting to return to an active lifestyle that includes competitive tennis. Dr. A.Smith assured me that Matt Midkiff and the Foothills clinic is the best place for me to receive the evaluation, program and supervision needed to return to competitive play! I have been extremely happy with the care, support and guidance that I have received from Matt and his staff! They are always friendly, attentive and professional! The exercise programs and testing protocol that they use for rehabilitation is state of the art! I would highly recommend them to anyone who has suffered an injury or simply needs physical guidance to improve their quality of life. I have in fact, done just that, and all of my referrals have sincerely thanked me for the recommendation! I thank Dr.A.Smith for sending me to Foothills Sports Medicine Physical Therapy in the first place and I am forever indebted to Matt Midkiff and his staff for guiding me to a complete recovery. I couldn't have done it without their excellent care!

Been bring my 2 daughters here off and on from soccer injuries , would not take them anywhere else. One of my daughters had ACL surgery and came back faster and stronger with guidance from this staff. You can not go wrong with this place. We don’t even live near this place but still take the time to drive further for this staff to work on my daughters

I’ve been a client of Matt Midkiff’s at Foothills Physical Therapy in Mesa/Gilbert for over 20 years. I have seen him for simple sport injuries to major surgery rehabilitation. He is knowledgeable, professional and extremely comprehensive. I always appreciate his patience and willingness to answer any questions or concerns I may have.
His techs are very hands on and willing to help with exercise plans. The office staff is very personable.
I have trusted Matt and his staff with both of my boys and their high school/college sports injuries and my husband’s post surgical knee rehab.
I will ALWAYS recommend Matt and his clinic to anyone looking to improve their physical well being.

In a time of uncertainty when our son tore his ACL playing football this place was amazing. Matt provided PT services both before & after surgery and helped our son reach all of the appropriate return to sport milestones. The staff is kind & knowledgeable & I would highly recommend them!

We couldn’t have been happier with the care our daughter received at Foothills Physical Therapy after her ACL surgery. That kind of injury is scary, especially when your child is a competitive athlete and you just want to know they’re being guided the right way.
Matt and his team were amazing. They knew how to challenge her while still being very aware of her limits. Our daughter always felt supported and confident, which made a huge difference throughout the rehab process.
When we told our surgeon who was handling her physical therapy, he immediately said, “Matt is the best return to sports ACL physical therapist in the western U.S.” And after watching the process, we completely understand why. Matt is incredibly thorough, always puts the athlete first, and clearly cares about staying current with what actually works when it comes to returning athletes to sport.
If you have a child who’s been injured playing competitive sports and want them to come back stronger and more prepared, Foothills Physical Therapy is absolutely the place to go.
Also worth mentioning, they’re not just great with athletes. My mom goes there for her knee and has seen a big improvement in her mobility.

Foothills PT and Matt Midkiff are the best. My daughter tore her ACL and meniscus. Matt and his staff walked her through every step making sure she met every marker along the way. The specialized care he took in her recovery helped her get back on the field and ready. She is now 3 years post surgery and doing better than ever. Not only did he help with her recovery but he taught her prevention techniques that has kept her stay on the field. I have seen so many female soccer players tear their ACLs now and many are not the same or suffer from re-tears. I will recommend Matt and Foothills over and over again to anyone who wants quality care with perfection markers. He doesn’t take short cuts, he doesn’t skip steps, and he makes sure your athlete is back on the field ready and strong. Thank you Matt and all the Foothills family.

Matt and his team provide exceptionally thorough, knowledgeable and thoughtful physical therapy. I’ve recommended many patients to Matt, and every one of them has been thrilled with the results! Whether you are seeing Matt post-surgery or for an injury, you can be confident you’ll leave feeling strong, injury-free, and fully prepared to continue on your athletic journey.

I have been going to Matt, Vince, and the Foothills crew here for a few years, and have zero complaints. I play football at the division one level and understand there are lots of injury’s within the sport. I have had ACL surgery and re-surgery on one knee and meniscus repair on the other. I often have had to come home for break and need to continue rehab in order to stay on track for recovery. Vince, Matt, and the rest of the Foothills crew has not only helped me stay on track every time, but far exceed that and show that they truly care about helping everyone in the facility recover to their fullest. I see the way all of the PT interact with upmost care and a true want to help everyone that comes in. Just want to say thank you and let all know this place is amazing.

Matt Midkiff and his team were the best from start to finish for my ACL rehab for me to get back to return to sport! From the moment I walked in, I knew I was going to be taken care of with kindness and compassion. They all truly care about your rehab process and make sure if you have any questions that they get them answered and explain the entire process in detail. Even after my journey ended as an ACL patient if I continue to have any questions, Matt is always there to support me! Definitely recommend this clinic!

Foothills PT at 1702 South Val Vista in Mesa is one fantastic place to get put back together. Matt Midkiff is beyond amazing, his overall knowledge is one of a kind. Matt not only teaches others with calmness and complete focus, he treats his patients the same, totally focused on providing the best care for each individual and is extremely calm which radiates confidence to the patient. After getting two treatments from another PT place, I was referred by a friend to Matt at Foothills and I'm extremely grateful Matt squeezed me in to help me with my shoulder injury, doctors wanted to do surgery but Matt suggested PT along with dry needles/deep tissue massage and it's worked out AMAZING. Talk about night and day difference between PT places, I'd definitely return if I had another injury. The care here from Matt and others is top notch. The facility is clean and orderly, up to date machines and every kind of item needed for exercises for any injury. This office also runs ON TIME, there is never any waiting or wasted time during treatments, very important to me. Totally recommend Foothills PT on Val Vista and definitely see Matt Midkiff.
